Research

  • Femtosecond spectroscopy

The femtosecond spectroscopy group works with a range of molecules such as acetone and acetylene, using 50-100 femtosecond pulses of laser light to investigate e.g. intra-molecular dynamics relevant for their breakdown in the atmosphere.

  • Thin-film dynamics

Investigations of the pico-second structural dynamics of thin, semicondicting organic films has been a major effort of the Centre due to their foreseen importance in cheap, flexible displays and solar cells.

  • Liquid Scattering

Initially based on a succesful Master´s Project, research into light-initiated structural changes and reactions in the "natural environment" of chemistry, liquids, has become a focus area of the Centre.

  • System modelling and theory

The researchers involved with the Centre´s theoretical efforts are investigating the fundamentals of ligh-matter interaction on the shortest time scales as well as intra- and inter molecular dynamics using state-of-the-art methods.

  • Molecular Engineering

The molecular engineering group designs and provides highly optimized molecular systems for time-resolved measurements of physical and chemical phenomena.
